70000 Britannia heads to the Goodwood Revival on Steam Dreams Chichester Excursions - 08.09.24

Hauling two tours for Steam Dreams, 70000 Britannia would head to the South West and Chichester, to take passengers to the Goodwood Revival.

Travelling from London Paddington, the train would travel up the GWML to Reading, before heading to Basingstoke to travel up the SWML to Eastleigh, before going via Botley to eventually reach Chichester. Having left Paddington 40 minutes down, the train is captured at Hedge End station nearing the end of its outward journey to the Cathedral City.

After being serviced in Chichester Reception Sidings, a seperate afternoon tour would take place, travelling to Littlehampton, where a reversal would see the Class 57 haul the tour to Horsham. Here, Britannia would regain control for the run back to Chichester, acting as a way to turn the pacific for its return journey to London. This tour is firstly captured departing from Chichester itself, and then at Christ's Hospital, firstly with the Class 57 passing, before Britannia returned 20 minutes later, putting on a great show for the locals.

For the return journey to London, we headed to Bosham station where the train passed just prior to a rain shower, before sprinting towards Funtley Rd to capture Britannia exiting Fareham Tunnel on the single line section to Botley.
