✅Multicultural with a growing immigrant population (largely from Asia and the Middle East)
✅More laid back lifestyle (could be a con for some)
✅Loads of opportunity to enjoy the outdoors with higher than average green space, parks and trails
✅Abundance of waterways like the Rideau River, Ottawa River and Rideau Canal (largest skating surface in the world) give outdoor types the opportunity to canoe, kayak, paddleboard, sail, raft; and in the winter skate, ice-fish, snowmobile.

✅Outside of a couple of rush hour periods, traffic is easy to navigate and you can get to most places in about 20 minutes from the centre of town

❌Expense of preparing for and living through four distinct seasons
❌Houses can be expensive relative to other cities
❌Bilingualism (English, French) is sometimes required to find a job
❌Less cosmopolitan than other major cities in Canada such as Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver (some would say boring)
❌More of a sleepy town that goes to bed early
❌Less job diversity with more government and professionals than in other cities
❌Hot summers that often come with high humidity
❌Extreme cold in the winter which can be snowy and last about 5 months
❌Lower end rentals located nearer the universities and colleges are great for students but can be challenging for those living next to large student populations
❌Transit system is still not capable of supporting all area residents.
However, the O-Train is expanding south and the new Light Rapid Transit (LRT) Phase 2 is expanding east and west which will enhance convenience and ridership.
❌COVID-19 has made it difficult for transit officials to plan and service routes with so many choosing to continue to work from home
