Being able to get up off of the floor when you are older can be a challenge and in a situation where you are alone it could save your life. I am a great believer in planning ahead. If you practice theses moves now it will greatly impact not only your independence but your overall mobility.

Ironically just as important as being able to get up off of the floor is spending time on the floor! Why did you stop sitting on the floor? If I had to guess I would bet that once when you were sitting on the floor and it no longer felt comfortable or you found it difficult to get up. So you just did not do it anymore.⁠

A better scenario would be that you realized that you actually were not doing it enough and needed to sit on the floor more often so that you could keep your agility and strength. Society has conditioned us to think that as you get older if something is not comfortable we should stop doing it. When in many cases it is a heads up that we need to work on our bodies to maintain our agility and strength.⁠
