1966 being the 50th anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising led to many parades & gatherings throughout Ireland. This film shows highlights of some of the parade that took place in Tullow, Co. Carlow. From what this forum heard (confirmations are welcome) over the years, a number of the people marching in this film were veterans of the rising.
St. Patrick's GAA club which at the time formed the backbone of the Carlow Senior County Football team are well represented. This was one period where Carlow were quite successfull at an inter county level.
The Proclomation was read at the Square (this forum does not recognise the reader) & then onwards to a further gathering at the then newly established Thomas Traynor Monument, Dublin Road, Tullow Co. Carlow.
