Try with Dharma Toner Black (2% stock solution)
16 cups of water + 3/4 cup white vinegar + 1 T (15 mL) of toner black 2% stock
No vinegar in the presoak
Put the yarn into the dye 3 times for about 5 seconds each time with stirring
[7:45] Glazing on white #2
+vinegar to the presoak
1 T of the 2% toner black
[14:23] Glazing on white #3
presoaked with vinegar
+ 1/4 cup of vinegar + 2 T of the 2% stock solution of Toner Black
[20:20] Dyeing the neon underlayer
leftover neon colors from Chanukah Night 1!
FLuorescent Fuschia, Fluorescent safety orange, Radioactive, Fluorescent Lemon, Purple Pop, and Frozen in ? concentrations
300 g of presoaked yarn in steam pan with no acid
Add 8 cups of water + 3 T white vinegar
Add some lines of the neon colors to the hot pan
[28:50] Washing the blank glazed yarn
[29:58] Washing the bonus neon rainbow
[31:16] Glazing the neon yarn
1) 16 cups of water + 1 cup of water vinegar
start with 2T of the 2% stock of toner black
Tweek the conditions slightly for 2 more skeins
[37:30] steam set the glazed yarn and dye more
steam set for 15+ min to make sure the colors are well set.
For the next three skeins, I dyed them 1 at a time after adding 1T of dye (.3 g), dipped 2-3 times until satisfied with color and set aside to steam set (all in the same pan)
[39:15] Going darker
Take one of the most recent skeins to glaze again with more dye. Add 2 T of the 2% stock solution and re-glaze
[41:54] Glazing 2 skeins at a time
30 mL of 2% stock solution
[43:58] Final Glaze - The darkest attempt
2T 2% toner black + 4 T 1% stock solution of true black
1.2 g of dye total
