Cascade Pass to Sahale Arm and Sahale Peak Summit- One Day!

Описание к видео Cascade Pass to Sahale Arm and Sahale Peak Summit- One Day!

A hike up to Cascade Pass, then up the Sahale Arm. From the top of the arm, we roped up and crossed Sahale Glacier. After working our way around some large crevasses at the top of the glacier, we hiked up the boulder field and scrambled around the east and north side of the summit pyramid (3rd to 4th class). The fall colors from Cascade Pass to the top of the arm were beautiful and the views of the surrounding mountains from the upper sections and summit were breathtaking. We also saw many animals including mountain goats, a deer, eagles, ravens, pika, ptarmigan, and even a black bear (look for him towards the end of the video). This was one of the most, if not the most, beautiful hikes I have done. Definitely a crown jewel of the Cascades.

The route to Cascade Pass begins at the end of Cascade River Road, which leaves Highway 20 in Marblemount, WA. The hike up to the pass consisted of around 34 switchbacks for a total of around 3.2 miles and 1,600ft of elevation gain. The views here are beautiful but if you continue up onto the Sahale Arm you gain views of Doubtful Lake and the expansive meadows of the arm, as well as the glacier camp and upper peak.
