Lidköping - Sweden | Enjoy Life After 50

Lidköping is a small town by the Lake Vänern in Sweden. Vänern is the biggest lake in Sweden. The town has approx. 40 000 inhabitants. As Lidköping often is mixed up with Linköping it is often called “Lidköping by Vänern”.
In the center you have the old town hall. It was a former hunting castle which belonged to Magnus Gabriel de la Gardie. But then it was situated on Kållandsö. It was moved during the end of the 17th century to Lidköping to be used as a town hall. This was under the period when Magnus Gabriel founded what became todays Lidköping.
Outside Lidköping you have the marvelous castle Läckö Slott. It was started to being built in the 13th century. The history is remarkable and there has been many owners to the castle. Today it is owned by the Swedish government.
