Telehandler Roll Over While FULLY EXTENDED! There's always a bigger boom! We got this job from Chris over at our Inland Empire location to assist in this rolled over telehandler. To make things interesting, the boom was extended to almost 100'. For reference, Big Flipper has 42' of boom and when upright was almost double the size of Flipper's!!!

Chris has a 40ton rotator, so that was used as a catch and control in the front. Big Flipper focused on controlling the boom and a catch in the rear. These jobs are always tricky when fully extended. The balance is off, and if you don't lift at the right part of the boom it will fight you hard. On the opposite, if you lift too high on the boom well now you won't be able to lift as the angle becomes too extreme and your rigging will be impossible to take off.

Alex and Chris got this upright after a small hiccup, then the next issue was leveling out the telehandler. The crew on site were not too familiar in operating the unit and could not level out the rear suspension. This would be very dangerous to leave and most certainly would tip over again. Alex had the idea to first drop the outriggers, then lower the boom. That way it can be driven and fixed later.
