NYNJ Rail and MTA NYCT Subway Move R32s In The Street In 4K! (6/2024)

Budds To Cross The Bay. Early on the morning of Tuesday, June 11, 2024, NYNJ Rail met up with Metropolitan Transportation Authority - MTA NYCT Subway in Brooklyn, New York using KLWX 253 (MK TE-47-4E, ex-MRS 253, S4m, née MRS 208, S2, Alco) and Knoxville Locomotive Works built NYNJ 5101 (KLW SE10B) to take 10 Budd built R-32s for scrapping. To make this pickup, they travel across the only active stretch of non-protected or separated mid-street running in New York City. The KLWX 253 has been on an extended assignment on the New York City side of the operation and is normally the spare power kept on the New Jersey side of New York Harbor. The next day, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, the cars were loaded on the NYNJ 200 barge and powered across New York Harbor by McAllister Towing's 'Bruce McAllister'. After arrival in New Jersey, they will be moved one final time to the scrap yard.
