This episode is all about the delightful summer treats of Old Delhi. In the stretch between Chawri Bazar and Suiwalan, you'll find a variety of unique treats perfect for beating the heat. Let’s take you through what we tried during our recent visit.

We kicked off our journey at Jain Coffee House, a hidden gem known for fruit and veggie sandwiches. This family-run spot has been serving customers for generations, blending traditional flavors with a twist. Here, we tried their famous mixed fruit sandwich—a combination of butter, orange and saffron chutney, paneer, and assorted fruit slices that offers a refreshing start to our food tour.

Next, we stopped by Hira Lal Chaat Corner, a beloved stall famous for its fresh chaat. This tiny corner shop has a loyal following, drawing in crowds eager to try their inventive, fruit-based snacks. We enjoyed their popular kuliyas chaat, made with scooped-out fruit chunks filled with boiled chickpeas, lime juice, and a special spice mix—a perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and spicy.

Our third stop was Sudarshan Refreshment Center, an iconic spot for cooling beverages. This place is a go-to for locals looking to escape the heat with their selection of chilled, flavored milk. Here, we tried the creamy kesar badam, a rich and satisfying saffron and almond-flavored milk.

Our fourth stop was the famous Mohabbat Ka Sharbat shop, known for its viral drink made with milk, Rooh Afza, and watermelon chunks. This refreshing concoction is perfect for a scorching summer day.

The fifth stop was the unique gur ka sharbat stall. This drink, made of jaggery and basil seeds, is a true thirst quencher and instantly cools down the body.

After cooling off with these refreshing drinks, we headed to our sixth stop i.e. Old Kheer Shop, a beloved institution known for its creamy rice pudding. This humble shop has been a staple of Old Delhi for decades, offering a rich and comforting taste of tradition in every spoonful.

We ended our journey at Kuremal Mahavir Prasad Kulfi Wale, a renowned spot famous for its inventive takes on kulfi. For over a century, this family-run business has been delighting customers with its creative, stuffed fruit kulfis. We tried their unique anar stuffed kulfi, where a whole pomegranate is filled with spiced pomegranate juice, and the jamun kulfi, a sorbet-like dessert made with fresh java plum—both perfect for a hot day.

Keep this list handy the next time you're in Old Delhi and looking for a way to beat the heat!
