My Favorite Bread Recipe / Braided Challah Bread

Описание к видео My Favorite Bread Recipe / Braided Challah Bread

I am giving you one of my very favorite bread recipes! Once you get the braiding down it becomes very easy to do! :-) And just remember I doubled the recipe, so this recipe will only make one big loaf or you can make two small loaves out of it. I hope you try it, because I think it is worth a try! Also this bread makes some amazing French toast! Enjoy!

Traditional Challah

2 1/4 teaspoon dry active yeast
1 1/2 teaspoon +1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup warm water
Two eggs
One egg yolk
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
4 cups flour (more or less)

Pour 1 cup of warm water into your mixer bowl, and add the yeast and 1 1/2 teaspoon sugar, mix until dissolved. Let stand for 10 minutes.
Mix in the rest of the ingredients. Slowly add flour, a cup at a time.
Mix until dough is barely sticky and pulls away from the bowl.
Transfer dough to a greased bowl, Cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for at least one hour.
Punch dough down and leave it to rise again for an hour or until double in size.
You can now either make one large challah or two smaller challahs.
Place the braided loaf on a cookie sheet that is greased, or lined with parchment paper.
Cover with plastic wrap or a heavy towel.
Let rise till double in size, Approximately an hour.
Whisk one egg and brush the egg wash over top of the loaf.
Bake at 3:50 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
