What is the biggest key for Texas Tech to beat Arizona State?

Key 1: Contain Leavitt To The Pocket
He is a decent passer, but where Texas Tech has to be aware of Leavitt is his extension of plays and in the run game. He has only 3 passing TDs this season but does have 3 on the ground as well. If Tech can contain and minimize the unscripted plays and plays out of the pocket, Texas Tech has a better chance of winning. Look for ASU to likely mimic some of the Wazzu QB run plays and see if Texas Tech can make any kind of adjustment.

Key 2: Solidify The Run Game & OL
This may be the “captain obvious” key of the week, but it needs to be said. Get Tahj going early and this helps the offense in a multitude of ways. Most notably with the OL as it allows them to get into the flow of the game and be better in both pass pro and run blocking. Second, it allows you to use more Play Action and RPO’s, we saw what that can do for Tech last week against UNT, but those types of plays help tremendously regardless of the competition level. Get the defense on their heels and that opens both pass and run lanes.

Key 3: Win The Turnover Battle
While “Take 3” in this game would be great, if Tech just wins the turnover battle that will drastically increase their chances of winning
Yes, that includes turnover on downs as well
Looking back at Key 1, that’ll be their best bet to creating turnovers is trying to force Leavitt into passing situations and making mistakes within the pocket
