The gold throne was seized by the East India Company in 1849 and was sent to London along with Kohinoor. In 1849, a war broke out between the British and the Sikhs to capture Punjab! After the war, the British captured Punjab. The East India Company made Dalhousie the head of Punjab! Now it found the gold throne in the treasury of Punjab! Dalhousie initially tried to keep the throne with himself and wrote to the British government, 'Since it is very heavy, I will not send it forward until then! The British government saw through his ruse and ordered the throne to be sent to London along with other precious objects, including the Koh-i-Noor. The Golden Throne was eventually shipped from India to London and in 1879 it was placed in the South Kensington Museum, which was later renamed the Victoria and Albert Museum.
