Welcome to The Lecture Hall Series, celebrating its sixth year with your host Dr. Tommy Sors! Join us as we showcase talks by Purdue graduate students.

In this episode, we spotlight Alisha Dhiman who is a Senior Research Associate at Purdue University, having embarked on her scientific journey in New Delhi, India. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from the University of Delhi, followed by a Master's degree in Biotechnology from the University of Hyderabad, where her research centered on the creation of a chimeric recombinant chitinase enzyme to broaden its substrate specificity. Her academic pursuit continued with a PhD at Jawaharlal Nehru University under Prof. Rakesh Bhatnagar, focusing on molecular microbiology. Here, she explored the role of two-component signal transduction systems in bacterial pathogenesis and adaptation, aiming to identify new antimicrobial targets. Moving to the US for her postdoctoral work, she shifted her focus to cancer research within the Dykhuizen lab at Purdue University in August 2017. Her current work investigates the role of particular chromatin remodeling complexes in regulating chromatin during development and disease.
