Testing 12 Fixation Tapes - Comparing Properties to Fixomull Stretch (The Gold Standard)

Fixation tapes are commonly used in blister prevention, including to hold paddings and dressings in place.

Fixomull Stretch is considered the gold standard of fixation tapes. But there are A LOT of other brands out there, with new ones coming out all the time.

Below is a list of all the brands of fixation tape I tested for this comparison viceo.

1. Fixomull Stretch
2. Hypafix
3. Hypafix Gentle Touch
4. Hapla Chirofix
5. Walkers Fixation Tape
6. Strapit Fix It
7. Straplast Fixing Tape
8. InMotion CTEK
9. Physipod PhysiFix
10. Meson Adhesive Wound Dressing Tape
11. CS Airpore Soft Fix Tape
12. Motex Softpore

The properties I looked at were:
➡️ Flexibility
o Side to side
o End to end
o Transverse

➡️ Adhesiveness with:
o Repeated joint flexion – is there gaping of the tape due to lack of adhesion
o Then add water – is adhesion adversely effected with repetitive joint flexion

➡️ Residue – Do any of the tapes leave adhesive residue on the skin upon removal

➡️Ease of removal – Does the tape come off in one piece
