The bronze dragons sometimes employed mortals to assist them, even before they started employing groups of 5 to 25 adventurers. These individuals, known as Watchers, were granted immortality by the bronze dragonflight in exchange for specific services. Most of the known ones received their status in connection to the War of the Shifting Sands, but the most notable exception is the tauren Xarantaur The Witness. One of the first tauren to study under Cenarius over ten thousand years ago, he spent his life travelling the world in search of knowledge. On his deathbed, the Bronze Dragonflight took him to Nozdormu himself, who granted Xarantaur immortality and tasked him with bearing witness to the history of Azeroth and with making sure the true history of the world is not forgotten.

Nozdormu was absent throughout most of the War of the Ancients; in fact, during the creation of the Dragon Soul, it was his prime consort, Soridormi, who gave a portion of the Aspect's power to the artifact. During that time, Nozdormu was trapped in an anomaly in time created by the Old Gods, who tried to change the course of the War of the Ancients and take advantage of Sargeras's coming to Azeroth in order to escape. Nozdormu called upon the aid of the red dragon Korialstrasz, and he, along with a few associates, succeeded in mostly restoring history, allowing Nozdormu to escape and thwarting the plans of the Old Gods. This occasion also marked one of the few times where Nozdormu willingly re-wrote history. During the war, Korialstrasz from the future managed to save a large clutch of blue dragon eggs. Nozdormu then took care of those eggs in the absence and madness of Malygos, effectively changing history, as the Blue Dragonflight was nearly extinct in the present.

Following the War of the Ancients and the blessing of Nordrassil by the Aspects, the Bronze Dragonflight stayed largely uninvolved in Azeroth's affairs. The one exception to this rule was the War of the Shifting Sands, fought between the night elves and the forces of the Qiraji. While originally neutral, the bronzes, under the leadership of Nozdormu's son and heir Anachronos, rallied to the losing night elves' side once the silithid attacked the Caverns of Time. Anachronos called upon the aid of the other dragonflights as well, and the united force succeeded in pushing back the insectoids to Ahn'Qiraj. Unable to defeat the Qiraji in their entirety, Anachronos, along with Archdruid Fandral Staghelm, sealed the insectoids in their city behind the Scarab Wall. The dragon then created two artifacts: the Scarab Gong and the Scepter of the Shifting Sands, which could be used to reopen the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj should the need arise. The Scepter, however, was shattered by Staghelm, and its pieces were lost for the next millenium.

During the War of the Shifting Sands, the Qiraji were at a massive disadvantage against the dragons, as they had very few ways of fighting flying creatures. A particularly cunning Anubisath named Ossirian, however, managed to kill a bronze dragon named Grakkarond. Ossirian hurled his sword through the dragon's wing, causing it to fall to the ground. The dragon then nearly mauled Ossirian to death before being killed by the remaining qiraji. Ossirian was taken back to Ahn'Qiraj and was healed and empowered by the Twin Emperors of the Qiraji themselves for his act. The site of Grakkarond's death in Silithus is now considered sacred by the other Anubisath.

During the War against the Lich King, the Argent Crusade was assisted by the bronze dragon Penumbrius. Unusually, though, Penumbrius was joined by several bronze proto-dragons found at the Bronze Dragonshire in Dragonblight. The proto-dragons apparently willingly assisted Penumbrius and the Crusade in their fight in Icecrown.

Following Deathwing's defeat, the bronze dragons lost much of their powers. While still able to travel the timeways, they lost their ability to control the flow of time and don't have their perfect knowledge anymore. The bronzes are now dependent on the Timewalkers, a faction of both mortals and dragons which vowed to protect the timeways. In addition, there is now a growing faction within the Bronze Dragonflight, of which Kairozdormu was a part of, who believe that they should change history in order to make a better future.
