Описание к видео Jacques-Louis Battmann - Offertoire funèbre in C minor, Op. 272, No. 6

This piece, Op. 272, No. 6, was composed by Jacques-Louis Battmann (25 August 1818 – 7 July 1886). Battmann was born in Masevaux, France and served as organist in Belfort, Vesoul, and Dijon, where he also died. He published a total of 456 works, mainly in the field of organ and piano music, as well as sacred and secular choral works. Many of his works are freely downloadable from IMSLP (I'm not sure where this particular piece came from, however).

Played on the sample set for the organ of Sainte-Marie Cathedral in Oloron-Sainte-Marie, France, which was built in 1870 by the great organ builder Aristide Cavaillé-Coll. Today the organ is in the same condition as in 1870 when Cavaillé-Coll finished building it.

Sample set by Piotr Grabowski.
