We will continue reading from The Living Name by His Holiness Sacinandana Swami.

This beautiful book has six chapters, and so far we have studied two.

📖 Chapter 1 – Yojana (Alignment)

In this chapter, we discussed the alignment of body, mind, and heart.

How to properly sit and prepare for chanting

How to align the mind with the mantra

How to bring the heart into the practice

The second part of this chapter included practical exercises to apply this alignment in our daily chanting.

📖 Chapter 2 – Sambandha (Relationship)

This chapter focuses on understanding:

Why we are chanting

Who we are chanting to

Our relationship with Krishna

We learned to chant not mechanically or as shadow chanting, but with awareness and relationship.

✍️ Practical exercises included:

Meditating on our eternal relationship with Krishna

Contemplating the meaning of the Holy Name

Writing a heartfelt letter to Krishna

Entering deeper awareness by remembering Radha-Krishna

We also reflected on watering the seed of devotion throughout the day by:

Remembering: “I am a devotee.”

Understanding: “Krishna is my master; I am His servant.”

Performing all activities as an offering — not for personal pleasure

Chanting with remembrance from morning to night

This is what we have covered in the first two chapters.

📖 Chapter 3 – Chanting with the Intention to Serve

Now we begin the third chapter.

Many times we hear:

“Chanting is easy.”

“One Holy Name destroys unlimited sinful reactions.”

“The result of chanting is love of God.”

These statements are true — but they may seem elusive.

We are invited not just to believe them, but to experience them.

🌸 The Essential Inner Attitude – Seva (Service)

The key teaching in this chapter is:

Chanting must be done in the mood of service.

When we chant with service attitude:

Krishna is inspired to appear in our hearts.

Material contamination is gradually removed.

The mirror of the mind is cleansed.

Anxiety and confusion are washed away.

It all begins with giving attention to the Holy Name.

The foundational service in chanting is:

👉 To listen carefully.
👉 To welcome the Holy Name with respectful attention.

❓ A Common Question

We may think:

“Isn’t Krishna’s name powerful enough to work even if I chant absent-mindedly?”

Yes, the Holy Name is fully powerful.
But Krishna does not appear where there is no attention or welcome.

Just as:

If a friend comes to our home, but we ignore them, stay distracted, and do not care for them — will they want to return?

Similarly, inattentive chanting does not invite Krishna’s presence.

🌼 The Holy Name Is a Person

A very important realization on the spiritual path is this:

The Absolute Truth is not an impersonal force — He is a person.

And the Holy Name is not just sound.
The Holy Name is Krishna Himself.

From the Name, everything is revealed:

His form

His qualities

His pastimes

His loving nature

The great saints have described the Holy Name as a worshipable divine person, not merely a vibration.

When we chant, we are not producing sound —
we are inviting Krishna personally into our heart.

❤️ The Real Goal of Chanting

When we chant the Hare Krishna Mahamantra, what do we truly desire?

We desire:

Krishna to enter our life

Krishna to enter our heart

A heart-to-heart loving relationship

The heart becomes a temple, and we long to welcome Him there permanently.

Chanting is not:

Mere music

Emotional excitement

Just singing or dancing

Those may come naturally later.

First must come the relationship.

First must come the service mood.

🌺 Today’s Main Takeaway

Krishna and His Name are non-different.

The Holy Name is a divine person.

Chanting is an act of loving service.

Attention is the doorway to Krishna’s presence.

When we chant with this understanding, Krishna personally responds.
