Sava Bohinjka, Slovenia - 8/30/24

My guide Uros Kristan took me to fish the Sava Bohinjka River, about 45 minutes away from Vrhnica where I stayed. Even though the river was low, skinny water held big trout, chubs and graylings. I had lots of fun fishing dry fly in the morning, catching numerous wild trout in the 8-12” range, and a 14” rainbow, nice graylings too.

We switched to euro nymphing and got many more bigger rainbows. Missed a lot of fish and several big rainbows that got off.

Ended with a beautiful wild 21” rainbow nymphing. It ran around the rocks and vegetation several times, was really lucky to have landed it!
