The report of an independent inquiry into the United Kingdom’s contaminated blood scandal, published on Monday (May 20), found that the government covered up errors that led to thousands of people being infected with HIV or hepatitis.

The contaminated blood scandal represents one of the deadliest treatment disasters in the history of the state-funded National Health Service (NHS).
