Here's an extended edit showing more of the extensive restoration of a W.F & J. Barnes 20-inch drill press that was manufactured in 1910, from a time when form and function were equally important. Unlike many camelback drills from the time period, this one features back gears internal to the upper cone pulley and a worm gear auto-feed. Currently, the drill press is powered from a floor-mounted one horse power electric motor. I plan to fabricate an original foot-powered shifter to run it from an overhead line shaft when I build my next workshop.
