The launch of America's first space shuttle: Columbia, on Sunday, April 12th, 1981, at 7.00 am EST, beginning the shuttle era with the first test flight: STS-1. The video depicts the launch just before the end of the planned hold at T- 9.00 minutes, through the first OMS burn. It includes the air-to-ground transmission before launch.
