NORTH BENGAL TRIP, PART 3 EPISODE 2 / TILOTTAMA / MURTI NIC OFFICE / MURTI RIVER / CHALSA VIEW POINT

Today is the 13th of October 2023 & Maha Navami of Durga Puja. We got up early in the morning and went to a nearby pond inside the tourism property with one of the hotel staff to watch the feeding of plenty of gold fish along with other colourful fishes. This pond is maintained by the tourism authority. It was really a nice experience at the beginning of the day. Then we quickly finished our complementary breakfast and went out to collect our tickets for Gorumara Jungle Safari from Murti NIC Office about 8 Kms away from Tilottama. It was a splendid drive amidst the dense jungle areas of Gorumara. Unfortunately when we reached Murti at around 10:00 AM the NIC office was closed. We came to know from the locals that the first shift was closed at 9:00 AM and the second shift will open at 12:00 PM. So we started moving towards the Murti River which was a 10 minutes walking distance from the NIC Office. We simply remain speechless with the very first glimpse of the river for its excellent picturesque scenic beauty. It is undoubtedly one of the most amazing spot I ever visited. All of us had a remarkable moment there and we almost spent two hours at the river-side till 12:00 PM. Finally we left the place and went to the NIC Office where we collected our tickets for 2 major spots of the Gorumara Jungle, the Jatraprasad watch-tower and the Rhino-Point watch-tower. Please note that all the major Jungle Safaris of the Dooars remain closed from 15th June till 15th September every year. Besides, entry to the forest also remain closed on each Thursday. After that we planned a quick visit to the famous Chalsa View-Point located at a small hill on the eastern Himalayas around 10 Kms from Murti NIC Office. It was a nice place from where one can have a mesmerizing view of the Chalsa town. We enjoyed the beautiful view for a few moment and began our return journey to our hotel since we have to get ready for our next Jungle Safari Trip to the Gorumara National Park at 3:30 PM.
