She spoke with her mother that morning, assuring her everything was fine. Tragically, Celia became the victim of a heinous crime.

Born on July 6th, 1996, in Point San Miguel, Spain, Celia moved to Iowa on a golf scholarship. She was a successful athlete with many titles, including the European Women's Amateur Championship and the Iowa State athlete of the year in 2018. She dreamed of becoming a professional golfer and later a civil engineer.

Celia was well-loved by her family and friends. She lived with her boyfriend, Carlos, in Ames. On the day of her murder, Celia was attacked by Colin Richards, a 22-year-old homeless man with a history of substance abuse and criminal behavior. He was arrested and later sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Celia's death shocked her family and the community. The murder highlighted issues of safety and the dangers posed by the presence of unauthorized individuals in public spaces. Celia's family and friends mourned her loss deeply, remembering her as a talented and loving individual with a bright future ahead.
