Alarm.com offers communicators for many systems, and in today's video Hayden is covering the installation and activation of the SEM300-VT. Installation of this communicator is fairly simple involving only a few wire connections to the panel. The communicator can be powered using one of two methods, CORBUS power or battery power. Using CORBUS power will incur the power draw directly from the alarm system potentially affecting connected modules if your system is low on available power. Using the battery is typically the preferred way as that allows SEM300 to only draw power from the backup battery for the system, guaranteeing the SEM300 will stay powered as long as the battery lasts. Depending on your chosen method that can potentially affect the activation process. In this video, we use the battery power method which gives a little more freedom during the activation to keep the system booted up while waiting to finalize the activation.
