Port Meadow almost to Wolvercote, August 12th 2024, Oxford

I walk from William Lucy Way up the Port Meadow bank of the Thames once more, about two-thirds of the way to Wolvercote. It's amongst the driest I have ever seen the ground, despite it being floodplain, and the colours and contrasts are striking. Just after I turn to go back, at about 00:35, I give a demonstration of "externality" — the way business can harm (or, in theory, benefit) third parties without having to pay the cost of doing so. It seems a useful concept to have in mind when able to see the University's Castle Mill Flats, which unfortunately I can for the rest of the walk.
