“I was the only woman on the cricket panel… When I got a call from Sony saying, ‘How would you like to host the Cricket World Cup,’ my inner cricket fan was thrilled. But it wasn't as easy as that… My role was to ask the questions that a lay person would have. But every time I asked those questions, I got no response – the legends on my right and left simply ignored me. After every show, I’d put my head down and cry. But then, I was told, ‘We chose you out of thousands… you got this!’ After that one conversation, things changed. I began prodding and poking until I got an answer. And the rest is history!”

Today, we are honored to have the incredibly talented and versatile Mandira Bedi with us. After her debut on screen in the titular role of 'Shanti', Mandira Bedi became a household name. And her role in Dilwale Duhaniya Le Jaayenge was one for the books.

Mandira has had an extraordinary journey in the world of entertainment, cricket and beyond. In this episode, she shared some amazing stories from her time on "Shanti" and "DDLJ," and gave us a peek into how she ended up in the cricket world. She told us what cricket taught her, and we also got into some fun (and maybe controversial) topics, such as the ‘noodle strap’ blouses she wore during her stint as a cricket commentator that got everyone talking.

We also dove into her thoughts on some of the big names in cricket, including her admiration for MS Dhoni. Beyond her professional life, Mandira opens up about her mindset, spirituality, and the importance of self-love. She shares her insights on mental health, dealing with the loss of her husband, and her journey through motherhood, including the challenges of postpartum and the joy of adoption.

About Humans of Bombay –
Humans of Bombay is a movement that started 10 years ago. We believe that every person has a story to tell and we want to help them tell these stories. In these years we’ve published stories across genres – stories of love, hope, faith and courage. And through our storytelling, we’ve built an engaged community of over 6M!

Our idea is simple – to strike a chord with our community and catalogue the beat of humanity, one story at a time.
