馬仲儀的勇敢抉擇：在英國重新走上行醫之路：「只要與香港仍有聯繫，就不感自由」｜記香港人

【記・香港人｜馬仲儀｜咫尺之間的自由｜20220720】新環境重尋行醫的初心；恐懼仍未消散，仍然不能感受完全自由

2021年6月，馬仲儀醫生卸任兩年的香港公共醫療醫生協會會長一職。其時香港環境窒息高壓：傳媒機構陸續停運、公民組織解散、政府對疫情的政策反覆。面對嚴峻的社會氣氛，加上擔任公職時承受多方的言論壓力，她直言當時心情低落。藉着卸任的契機，毅然決定到英國執業，投入全新的工作環境。

卸下公職，在新環境生活，馬仲儀重拾生活節奏，情隨事遷，漸漸感到舒坦。而在與香港截然不同的醫療環境工作，更令她反思自己的心態，尋回行醫的初心。

馬仲儀在英國分享自己的經驗與知識給有需要的人，以此連結香港人。而她一直關注香港的消息，不願捨割。然而，不同人士被捕的新聞，令她意識到即使身在異地，恐懼仍未消散，她仍然不能感受完全自由。

Dr Chung-yee Ma, Arisina, was president of the Hong Kong Public Doctors' Association from 2019 to 2021. When she stepped down in June last year, Hong Kong had already been languishing in an increasingly suffocating atmosphere. One media outlet after another ceased operations. Many civic groups were disbanded. The government's coronavirus policies remained contradictory. Owing to the deteriorating social environment, and the stress caused by different criticisms of her as a public figure, she became depressed. As she no longer held public office, she decided to relocate to the Uk and continue to practise in an entirely new work environment.

Leaving public office and moving to a new place, Dr Ma has reclaimed her rhythm in life. She also feels a growing sense of relief after letting go of the past. As she is now working in a healthcare environment completely different from Hong Kong's, she feels compelled to reflect on why she wanted to be a doctor at first.

Dr Ma shares her knowledge as well as her UK experience with those who need it, in a bid to connect with Hongkongers in the country. Unwilling to sever her ties with Hong Kong, She continues to keep abreast of any new developments in the city. However, the controversial arrests of many people in Hong Kong made her realise that her fear will never disappear, even though she has moved abroad. She still thinks she has yet to enjoy total freedom.
