Basically, there's a concerning amount of heavy metals and arsenic in many brands of tampons, and it's likely causing some serious long term problems, more studies are needed, but judging from the fact that the only study related to this topic was done in 2019, I bet nothing is really going to be done about it until the body count gets high enough.

So, I scratched my head, wondering why it would take humanity until a couple years ago to make sure tampons are safe for women...and forwarded the article to my wife, and my good friend Lora. Lora pretty much gave me the inspiration to do this song when she replied, "A) toxic tampon should be a punk song. B) what the actual fuck??? "

So, there you go. I got to work on it today. I know that some women out there might not appreciate that a man would write a song about something like this, and I guess it could be a kind of weird sort of appropriation/man-splaining type of thing, but...fuck, man. 1) I don't really fucking care and 2) I genuinely want to bring awareness to this ridiculous health problem so we can easily fix it and do the right thing. We can all disagree on how to change the world for the better, but I sincerely doubt there's any nay-sayers about getting toxic bullshit out of tampon materials. Such an easy win for women everywhere, let's fucking GO!
