Santa Fe lives in 2024! Warbonnets, 'fakebonnets', bluebonnet around Galesburg and eastern Iowa

I figured I'd put all these clips together, to show the volume of bonnets we got over a three day span in Galesburg and eastern Iowa.

Between so called 'fakebonnets' dancing around on road trains, to warbonnets on Galesburg trim jobs and the local out of West Quincy, to a bluebonnet on a job out of Galesburg, there was no shortness of ATSF power 29 years after the merger with BN.

First comes the R-CHI662 in some corn fields. Enroute westward, we noticed it paralleling us in the cornfields and made a quick stop off for it.

The L-HLA836 runs out of West Quincy, MO, and we positioned ourselves in Montrose, IA to get it along the Mississippi riverfront. We then unintentionally beat it to Fort Madison.

We got the same 'fakebonnet' leading H-KCKBRC at Fort Madison, and later passing the Galesburg Railroad Days display unit with H-BRCKCK.

Then Galesburg yard was littered with bonnets, mainly those assigned to yard jobs. A few were in position for trim jobs, while some were sitting idle, seen on the VIP yard tour hosted by the Galesburg Railroad Museum.

Taken June 27th, 28th, and 29th, 2024.
