Yer Blues Guitar Lesson (The Dirty Mac)

Imagine this for a second…

You can pick any musicians/artists in the world and put them all together to make up your own SUPER-group.

Wouldn’t that be crazy?

Well, that’s what John Lennon did when he formed the super-group The Dirty Mac in 1968.

Now, The Dirty Mac wasn’t a traditional band with a fixed lineup or an extensive history.

It was a one-off super-group put together for a television special called "The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus.”

The Dirty Mac consisted of:

-John Lennon (The Beatles) - Vocals and guitar
-Eric Clapton (Cream) - Guitar
-Keith Richards (The Rolling Stones) - Bass guitar
-Mitch Mitchell (The Jimi Hendrix Experience) - Drums

That’s a hell of a line-up!

Today I’ve got a lesson for you on their epic performance from December 11, 1968.

And it’s all about LEAD playing…

The song they jammed was “Yer Blues” (a Beatles tune from the White Album).

“Yer Blues” is a great example of how the Beatles took a standard blues progression and made it their own…

But with The Dirty Mac, it gets even better…

In the performance, John Lennon played an awesome guitar solo.

…And then Eric Clapton follows him up with a lead that brings the house down…
