Seán Buí (Jig)

Seán Buí translates into English as something like "Pale [as in one's complexion] John." I learned this tune many years ago from Kieran O'Hare when I was taking lessons. I was reminded of the tune by Brian McNamara's wonderful recording "A Piper's Dream" that he released in 2000. There's also a fantastic recording of Robbie Hannan playing this tune on "The Tempest," which he recorded for Na Píobairí Uilleann in 2020.

"Seán Buí" appears under the title "Ian Buis" in the 1765 music collection "Miss Hamilton's Delight and other Scottish and English airs" (for manuscript, see: https://digital.nls.uk/special-collec...)
