Cobbold Cliff Brewery - Ipswich Suffolk

Описание к видео Cobbold Cliff Brewery - Ipswich Suffolk

Well, that was a surprise!

This video was not supposed to go up until Friday but obviously leaving the draft uploading to Youtube (so I can have a proper look at it) while I got my young son to bed was a bad move.
YouTube decided to publish it anyway, warts and all with no information.

So an apology to those of you who thought, "his standards are slipping"

Anyway, hopefully, this version is a slight if not dramatic improvement.

Shot in very poor lighting condition early on a cold and overcast Sunday morning, I did my best to capture the old Cobbold Brewery which has stood at this location since 1898.

Now totally in ruin after many years of neglect and a fire in 2020, it is a very sad sight to behold.

The Tolly Cobbold name and the building itself is a distinctive part of the town of Ipswich -Suffolk in the East of England and is a much-loved landmark and valued part of Ipswich's history.

The brewery was built in 1896 and was designed by William Bradford, who was known as a brewery architect. The dramatic hip-roofed building is listed Grade II and uses a tower design, typical of the time, to accommodate the various processes involved in brewing.

Since closing in the 1980s the building has passed through a few owners which has resulted in years of neglect and its current sorry state.

The good news is there are plans to save the building by a local businessman who intends to redevelop the site.

The intention is to turn the landmark property into a care centre with supported living and use the former Brewery tap pub (the pink building in this video) as a community restaurant that will be shared by residents and the general public.

One only hopes that the owners have deep pockets as the damage done by the fire and water to put it out are extensive. Hopefully, they will be able to save as much of this well-known local landmark as possible.

A big thank you to all who have subscribed in the last month, I really do appreciate the comments and support.

I hope you enjoy the video and hopefully see you soon with a (planned!) upload.

Thanks.

Scott Buckley provides the soundtrack, another piece, which reflects the sad state of the building.

The unknown is strange and bewildering, but also lonely, and we are reminded of the things we left behind, and the long road that lies ahead of us. Slow, ambient strings and synths provide a starry background for some brooding solo cello. Part of the ‘Monomyth’ album project.
