Karen in Wool in Colorado for a Train Ride Week of Adventure

10 day trip experimenting with taking mostly wool clothing.

The Wool& Summit bike shorts are so comfy and I can wash them every night as needed, parts or the whole thing and they dried overnight. The ankle socks are my new favorite socks for summer. I took two pair, but they wear great and wash and dry overnight when needed.

The Wool& Sierra and Camellia dresses are so easy to wear with a wool tee under or over. For tees, I took Wool& Stella and Woolx Gabi. Once I alter the armholes on Sierra and Camellia, I will be able to wear them as a tank dress. The armholes are just too big for me as is.

I did have concern about wearing the dresses on the steam train because coal embers float around and could burn a little hole, so I wore a regular cotton tee and lightweight, inexpensive Costco pants with my wool underwear for comfort.

I can wear Wool& Summit bike shorts as swim bottoms and for my next trip, I want to wear a wool bra with a wool tank for modesty instead of a normal bathing suit. The swim suit didn’t dry between days and is so uncomfortable to put on while wet, is so heavy, and is a one use item. I need to make sure everything I take has multiple uses.

While Sierra is my favorite dress to throw on and is so comfy and hard working and is just fine in the heat, it isn’t as dressy as I want for Europe so I will probably take the Wool& Camellia.

For warmth on cool mornings I took Woolx Layla and my Icebreaker wool hoodie. I wore the hoodie more often since the zipper makes it so easy to layer. I think the long sleeve Layla works better as a base layer for me than try to layer it on top. It is so very soft and comfortable and I love wearing it under Sierra.

Cabella’s Wool Hat - my new favorite, works fine in summer as long as it doesn’t get over 85 degrees. It was too hot in Mexico but fine in Colorado.
