Dr Andrew Landers, CEng, FIAgrE
Consulting Engineer, Effective Spraying, Ludlow, Shropshire, UK
Faculty Fellow, Cornell University, NY, USA

Orchards and vineyards pose particular problems for accurate spraying as there are many variables; including row widths, varieties, plant spacing, and changes to canopy height as the season progresses, amongst others.

In this informative talk Dr Landers draws on his experience with the trials carried out at Cornell University to explain how the use of infra-red and ultrasonic sensor systems have enabled accurate and effective control leading to the use of less pesticide and improved economic viability for the farmer.
