Howe Caverns Tour in Schoharie County, New York, which is located about 35 miles west of Albany.

This is the second most visited natural attraction in New York State after Niagara Falls.

It was originally discovered on May 22, 1842 by Lester Howe after noticing his cows going near the bushes on hot summer days on his friend and neighbor Henry Wetsel's property. Tours began on 1843 and Howe bought the property in 1854 for $100 (equivalent to $3,632.25 in 2023), which was a very smart investment. The cave was closed to the public until an organization was formed in 1927 to reopen it. After completing the work including elevators, brick walkways, lights, and handrails, it was reopened on Memorial Day, May 30, 1929.

This 90-minute expedition consists of the 1.25 mile walking tour and a 0.25 boat ride (total round trip).

There are 5 unique attractions listed as follows:

1) Chinese Pagoda
2) Titan's Temple
3) Boating on the Mysterious Lake of Venus
4) The Bridal Altar
5) The Winding Way
