Tony Khan comments courtesy of Chris Van Vliet |    • Tony Khan: Why AEW will be a success,...

It’s BeltaMania in AEW once again, as Tony Khan’s addiction to leather-plated with gold continues. It’s tough times for AEW with WrestleMania soaking up the headlines, ratings stagnating, attendance down AF and not a TV deal in sight for AEW. Some people drink their problems away. Some people smoke a little weed to take the edge off. Tony Khan just deals with his trauma with a new belt design. You can tell how bad AEW is struggling by how many belts are being commissioned in Jacksonville, and between AEW and ROH, there are currently 17 championship belts. 16 of which are sanctioned. Pretty soon, there will be more belts in AEW than there are pages in a Vince McMahon lawsuit. Tony Khan is a belt junkie and he has to be stopped.

I thought we were done with this problem after our intervention two years ago, but apparently not. So today, we’re going to rank all 17 AEW Titles, and decide which of those belts AEW actually needs.

Thank you for subscribing in Swahili.

Let’s start with No. 17 in the ROH TV Title. Let’s face it, ROH is a half of a wrestling company. So is AEW, which owns ROH, making ROH one half of a half of a wrestling company. It’s not ROH’s fault for being a quarter of a wrestling company. ROH has a lot of talent, but with limited exposure, and you can’t just throw belts at your problems. Tony Khan is a hoarder. He hoards wrestling promotion through his inexplicable purchase of ROH. He hoards championship belts like a Nepobaby Dan Lambert. He hoards talent by signing away every free agent on Oprah’s Green Earth, despite saying…

The ROH TV Title has to go. Kyle Fletcher, who was last seen doing the flippy flippy, divey divey with Will Ospreay in a match you already forgot about, is your ROH TV champion. Did you know? Do you care? No, you don’t. Do you know who the ROH TV champion was before Kyle? It was Samoa Joe, who just got tired of being the TV champion because he had bigger fish to fry, so he literally dropped that title like it was one of Lorie Harvey’s F—k boys. He should have dropped the belt into the trash can word to Madusa.
No. 16 is the women’s ROH TV Title. Why? How? This is insulting. It’s an equal opportunity belt borne out of equality of outcome, not equality of opportunity. The women in both ROH and AEW are just as capable of main eventing as the men, but that comes down to booking, not belts. Get this sh!t out of this app. The ROH Women’s TV title is useless.

No. 15 is Wheeler Yuta and the ROH Pure Championship. No. Hate it. Hate that belt. It’s everything televised pro wrestling shouldn’t be. Holds, and grappling and rules and no touching of the hair or face. Maybe if Ron Burgundy held this title it would be interesting, but not Wheeler Yuta. Until proven otherwise, Wheeler Yuta has about as much charisma as Joe Frazier present day—MJF’s words and mine. And Yuta holding the boring ROH Pure Title is similar to how dogs end up looking like their owners. The ROH Pure Title is a vanity project for people who think wrestling is real. Go Google the Brawl for All to watch the true story of 16 wrestlers picked to fight for real in a ring, and have their fights taped to find out what happens when wrestling stops being fake and starts getting real. It was a disaster.

Just like the ROH Pure Championship. The only thing pure about that belt is the magic powder that Tony Khan totally didn’t snort off of it.
