Let's Talk Maternal Mental Health

Описание к видео Let's Talk Maternal Mental Health

To mark Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week, our webinar focuses on the mental health issues that many women can experience before, during and after pregnancy and treatment, care and support available.

As many as 1 in 5 women experience mental illness during pregnancy or after birth. If left untreated, mental health issues can have long-lasting effects on a woman, her baby, and wider family.

Our panel includes experts who talk through common issues, signs to watch out for, and how and when to seek help.

Dr Abigail Easter is a senior lecturer in maternal and newborn health. Victoria May-Mills talks about her own journey with postnatal depression and anxiety two pregnancies and how this has led to her current role supporting women as a Senior Peer Support Worker in Hertfordshire Community Perinatal Team. Dr Karen Joash is an obstetrician and gynaecologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

*Disclaimer: feelings of depression, psychosis and suicide are discussed during the webinar. If you are feeling low, and/or suicidal, please visit A&E, or call 999.*
