Jeremie Albino, "Hard Time," // GemsOnVHS™

Описание к видео Jeremie Albino, "Hard Time," // GemsOnVHS™

Before this trip to Toronto, the farthest north in North America i'd been was Marquette Michigan, filming my friend (and talented songwriter) John Davey (   • John Davey, “Kings, Gods, Fools,” // ...  ). I'd even ventured to Niagara Falls with Jeremy Quentin (of Small Houses) once. Never had I ever dared to cross that border though, partly because I had my doubts they'd let me in, with my felony and all. Well it's 2020 folks, my records expunged and the world is my oyster, so I accepted Jeremie Albino and his manager-friend-extraordinaire Crispin Day's extended invitation to learn something about the Canadian music scene.

And just like that, I was invited into Jeremie's world and family with open arms. In this instance, I met Jeremie's father Pardo, who has run this taxi meter shop in Toronto for decades. He has that kind of poessimistic optimism only a long-time business owner can have, and it's endearing to an extreme. I can't help but feel Jeremie's songwriting was inspired growing up in shops like these, seeing hard working folks struggle onwards and upwards. I'll never forget trudging through the subsequent snowstorm after we filmed this, and the week I spent in Canada. More to come with Jeremie!
