Happy Go Licky ~ Live ~ 09-13-87 @

Happy Go Licky playing the last two songs of the night on September 13th, 1987 at the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C., those songs being "Ansol" and "Suzuki" both of which were contained on the "Will Play" CD on Dischord records.

If you are reading this, I'm sure you already know, but Happy Go Licky is the same 4 people that were in Rites of Spring, but (obviously) they took a very different approach to song writing. I can't think of another band that did something quite like this. I remember that when I first heard the music I found it to be jarring. Looking back, I think Mike Fellows might have had more of a musical influence and he sang more and than later did the early-GVSB type thing. Regardless, while the music (sonic/tempo) changed, the delivery of live music did not, just check out Guy on "Suzuki" as he starts the song standing with his guitar on and he ends the song face down into the stage, legs spread, body gyrating to his internal metronome.
