Bukky Leo was born in Notting Hill and went back to Lagos, Nigeria when he was 6 years old and spent his younger years there. He started his music career very early in his life and studied music at Goldsmith in Lewisham, London and was inspired by Joe Henderson. Bukky was approached by Tony Allen whilst playing his saxophone in Lagos and asked if he wanted to play in his band. Bukky was inspired by his travels and from this formed the Black Egypt Group. He has been playing Afro Beat music from very early. Bukky Leo has worked with many other famous musicians, including Hugh Masekela, Roy Ayers and Fela Kuti.
