ORCA WATCH 2024 - 27s Pod | June '24 - Part 1

PART 1 - This is the first part to one of our CLOSEST EVER orca encounters off mainland Scotland. After seeing a report of orca further up the coast we drove over 30 miles to try and get a glimpse only to find out it was part of on of our favourite pods of orca - the 27s pod!

The encounter was timed perfectly for the orca watch 2024 event and we were lucky enough to follow the pod of 3 from St Johns point, through John o' Groats all the way down towards Noss Head Lighthouse with plenty of close encounters along the way.

We have always dreamed of walking along side (or running!) orca around the Ness of Duncansby which is also part of the John o' Groats trial and we finally got to do that!

There is something super special about seeing wild orca off the coast of mainland Scotland and we couldn't have asked for a better afternoon seeing these amazing animals.
