RED RUM - A Photo Tribute

Red Rum has been the most impressive horse I have ever known, and I've known quite a few through foxhunting and racing. His concentration was simply in a different class to any other horse and it is what made it possible for him to be so successful. Both jockeys told me they just sat there and he took them round Aintree to achieve a total of three wins and two seconds in the Grand National, a record that will never be equalled.

I took all these photographs mostly in Southport in 1974 thanks to the kindness of trainer Donald McCain and head lad Billy Ellison in particular as well as jockeys Brian Fletcher and Tommy Stack.

Red Rum was simply the greatest racehorse of the 20th century.

I will be making these images into a book which will become available publically when it s ready.
