Sleep is very important for your child’s body and brain development from birth to adulthood.

Getting enough sleep helps kids grow up strong and stay healthy throughout life!

Getting enough sleep improves your child’s:
-Learning
-Performance in School
-Happiness
-Vocabulary & Memory
-Overall Health

Kids who don’t sleep a lot experience
-Hyperactive behavior
-Difficulty Focusing or Learning
-Health issues later in life
-Get upset easily
-Poor grades & academic performance

How can parents help?

-Create a consistent routine at night to help kids fall asleep
-Have healthy snacks and quiet time before bed.
-Avoid caffeine, sugar, and cell phone/tablet/TV screens before bed.
-Go to bed at the same time each night

*Keep consistent schedules
Same wakeup time & morning routine on the weekends to be ready for the rest of the week.

*Model Behavior & Talk Openly:
Set an example for your kids by making your own healthy sleep routine. Kids do what parents do!
Be consistent when you can with schedules & talk openly with your kids.
