Don McRostie - Mandolin Luthier - First Voice, Ohio

Ohio boasts a rich musical heritage that covers every type of American Roots Music from folk, bluegrass, blues, New Orleans jazz, Cajun to jug-band. But many Ohioans don't know much about the music and the musicians who play it.
To bring more attention to this creative Ohio asset, the non profit music and education organization Roots of American Music in partnership with WVIZ/PBS produced the one hour documentary "FIRST VOICE, OHIO", highlighting unique roots music from from around the Buckeye state.
The artists, all of whom have made significant contributions to their musical genres were filmed in a variety of locations around the state, telling their stories and playing their music.
An earlier version of this was included in the 2010 Cleveland International Film Festival. A special thank you to the Ohio Arts Council for help fund this project.
