FitBit sleep prediction: scientific test (full year)!

Описание к видео FitBit sleep prediction: scientific test (full year)!

FitBits and other wearables say they can predict your sleep, but how accurate are these predictions?
To put that to the test, I wore both a FitBit and a professional scientific encephalography (EEG) device to bed for a year on a weekly basis.
I compared the predictions of the FitBit to the professional EEG device, and in this video I present the results.

I also made a video that describes in more detail how these devices work, and what sleep stages are. You can find it here:    • FitBit & EEG: how do they predict you...

This comparison is part of a larger project where I spend over 11 hours a week tracking everything in my life. If you'd like to know more, please subscribe to my channel for updates.

Notes:
I am not trained as a sleep expert. What I describe in this vlog, I have learned by talking with specialised scientists and reading scientific papers about the subject.
For this comparison I used a FitBit Charge 2. However, I also started wearing the updated FitBit Charge 3, which claims to have better sleep prediction. I will make a vlog about that soon.
One reason the FitBit predicts more awake time, might be because when sleep is scored with an EEG device, you have to be awake for at least 90 seconds before it is scored as "awake". With the FitBit, this can be as short as 30 seconds. This makes it more likely that the FitBit predicts more time awake.
