Which Microphone is Best for the Acoustic Guitar? (Recording Acoustic Guitars)

Описание к видео Which Microphone is Best for the Acoustic Guitar? (Recording Acoustic Guitars)

Hello everyone! Ever wanted to hear the raw sound of a microphone recording the acoustic guitar with a single microphone? Well today I decided to dig out some microphones from my studios microphone cupboard, mic up my Taylor acoustic guitar, set a level and press record!

The microphones I use are a good mix of old/new and some which you might not usually care to try on an acoustic guitar.

Remember these are all mono recordings and with no processing added to them before or after. Although its possible you will hear some video compression. Keep in mind that sometimes a great acoustic guitar recording involves multiple microphones, a fantastic musician, some subtle outboard or Soft EQ and compression to create a great sounding tone. But it all starts with a well recorded source anyway! :-)

Anyhow, have fun and let me know which you prefer? In the demo I play a mix of open chords, gentle pickings and some more rhythmic chord progressions so you can catch a flavour of the microphones response to the SPL.

I hope this video helps you too and gives you a nice insight to these microphones. Happy recording, Marty! :-)
