Exercise regimes can be started gradually after a delivery. Again when to start exercise depends on whether the woman has had any medical or surgical complications even if it is a normal delivery. So first of all take the advise of an obstetrician or a gynecologist before you resume exercises but simple exercises like pelvic floor, or Kegels exercises or exercise to strengthen your back or abdominal muscles can be started even in the first week of delivery provided the women is comfortable. After the first week, you need to get yourself assessed by the doctor and the physiotherapist to see your level of fitness and also the symptoms you have, any pains, any aches and depends on that you will be advise about the exercises and you can start on that. Exercises like general routine walking, abdominal exercises to strengthen the muscles and back exercise and pelvic floor exercise can be stated as soon as you are comfortable. There is no time limit to start the exercises. Two tips before you start exercise is adequate hydration before you start exercising make sure you are hydrating well. Drink plenty of fluids or any liquids you like and secondly feeding the child before exercising.
