Lay of Nimrodel

Описание к видео Lay of Nimrodel

The next poem appears on page 339 of the 50th anniversary edition of The Lord of the Rings.

After many perils and adventures the Company of the Ring manages to cross the mines of Moria (Khazad-Dûm) and arrives at Lothlorien where they meet lady Galadriel and lord Celeborn.
They got to rest and have little food besides the Nimrodel river. Is in this moment when Legolas told them the tale of maiden Nimrodel:

It was an elf maiden of old who lived there before the Sindar and Noldor came. She lived isolated near the river that would later inherit her name.
She didn't like strangers except for the Sindar Amroth which he loved.
Things got bad when the Dwarfs woke up the Balrog of Khazad-Dûm. She was very upset about this until Amroth promise hear to travel to Belfalas and then take a ship to the West.
They got separated when they reached the White Mountains and Nimrodel got lost.
All in all Amroth arrived to Belfalas first. He got on a ship and waited for her in the harbor, but one night a storm and strong winds led the ship away. When Amroth awoke he jumped and start swimming towards the shore but couldn't make it.
When Nimrodel got to Edhellond (the port of Belfalas) there was no sign of Amroth.
