第二季的 Blue Note Messengers 大家久等了
雖然我們是 Blue Note Messengers，但這次我們詮釋了1960 年成立的重要廠牌 Impulse Record，節目將會延續三季，這次的錄音採錄音室等級規格分軌錄製，並由我本人花了一個月的時間混音、母帶後製，請大家好好享受這場在2022年3月4號的爵士饗宴，跟著我們回到1960-1967年時Impulse 唱片所創立的的黃金王朝

Impulse 以 「The New Wave of Jazz 」作為廠牌座右銘，開發出有別於Blue Note 時期的典型重奏樂團，加入管絃樂團、靈性爵士、自由爵士、融合爵士，並且將不被 Blue Note 廠牌重視的長號、鼓手、作曲家做為發專輯的要角，在這樣多元與新浪潮的推動下，John Coltrane 在 Impulse 創造了全新的四重奏聲響並且留下了不可動搖的作品「A Love Supreme」。

Astral Traveling

Astral Traveling，由 Tenor Saxophone 演奏家 Pharoah Sanders 於 1971年於 Impulse 廠牌發行的 Thembi 專輯

Pharoah Sanders 1965 年開始參與 Coltrane 眾多自由爵士專輯錄製，Sanders 是 Impulse 廠牌 Spirituality Jazz 脈絡的主要代表，聲響實驗常常在他的作品裡可以發現，運用非洲蘆笛、日本尺八、低音單簧管或是使用特別的樂器演奏法去製造出「冥想」的音樂樣貌，另外也會使用風琴、 Fender Rhodes、非洲式呢喃、木琴、風鈴、水鼓、塔布拉、Sakara 等世界樂器創造出非常新穎的畫面，也因為作品的特殊性與年代屬於 Impulse 晚期，首版綠眼標籤的 Sanders 作品都可以被炒作到200美金以上，可見其稀有性與賣座。他也與 John Coltrane 的遺孀 Alice Coltrane 合作錄製了許多作品

Astral Traveling 一曲收入在 Thembi 專輯作為開場曲，使用 F Aeolian 為主調性貫穿，以 8+8+7的曲式不斷重複，配器上加入打擊樂器與鳥笛來點綴，創造出 Spiritual 冥想爵士的氛圍特色。

Astral Traveling

Pharoah Sanders began to participate in the recording of Coltrane's many free jazz albums in 1965. Sanders is the main representative of the Impulse label's Spirituality Jazz context. Sound experiments can often be found in his works, using African reed flute, Japanese shakuhachi, bass clarinet or using Special musical instrument playing method to create a "meditative" music appearance, and also use world instruments such as organ, Fender Rhodes, African whisper, xylophone, wind chime, water drum, tabla, Sakara and so on to create a very novel picture , also because of the particularity of the work and the age of the late Impulse, the first edition of Sanders' works with the green eye label can be hyped to more than 200 US dollars, which shows its rarity and popularity. He also collaborated on many recordings with John Coltrane's widow, Alice Coltrane

Astral Traveling is included in the Thembi album as the opening song. It uses F Aeolian as the main tone throughout and repeats it in the form of 8+8+7. Percussion instruments and bird flutes are added to the orchestration to create a spiritual meditation jazz Atmospheric features.
